Lake Erie Walleye Fishing Regulations

Well fisherman, It seems that ODNR is implementing new standards for fish cleaning. We have to leave the skin on and the fish can not be cut into pieces or zippered until you reach your permanent residence. I will try to get a better read on this law when we start fishing. Fishing is going to start in a couple of weeks. Looking at putting the boat in the water within 2 weeks. First trip is scheduled for March 31. Hope the weather continues to stay nice and the wind backs off.

Sweet Escape Charters Airs on ASO-TV

Got the tape back from a taping of a TV show on Adventure Sports Outdoors.  The show aired on TV in Peoria, Illinois. The taping took place on June 22, 2011, with Harry Canterbury and Bob Siler as the hosts.  It was a great day of fishing and best of all we took a limit of Lake Erie walleye.  Harry was very fortunate to catch a 27 3/4", 9 1/2 lb. walleye, just shy of Fish Ohio.

I want to thank Harry and his company for giving me the opportunity to present my business for everyone to see.  Go check out Adventure Sports Outdoors and visit Lake Erie Walleye Charters to see the show.

Lake Erie Charter

Lake Erie walleye jig fishing has started.  The fish are very scattered from 8 to 15 foot of water.  The water temperature is still pretty low but climbing everyday.  We need to continue having temperatures in the 50's during the day and not dropping much in the evening.  Some charters are doing better than others.  The groups that find a pocket of active fish are very successful. The first hour of fishing is very important to your days success.  If you have a trip, please try to be early to the dock.  Also, please get your fishing license on the Internet or get it the night before when you arrive at the marina.  You can go to my website and find the link to Lake Erie fishing license on the lower, left hand side of the Sweet Escape Charters homepage or just use the provided links.  Looking forward for the fishing to continue improving.
Happy Fishing,
Captain Todd

Lake Erie Walleye Charter

Hello everyone! I just got the boat out of the building yesterday and pulled down to Wild Wings. The marina is ice-free and docks are being set. I will probably be putting the boat in the water next weekend and begin pre-fishing for the following weekend. I hope the weather continues to stay nice and not get colder as forecasted.
Fish are beginning to be caught in the Maumee River. Water temperature in the lake is approaching the beginning stages for walleye to begin spawning, 45 degrees. The water really needs to clean up. It is really muddy due to all the rain that we had in the past few weeks. Keep praying for nice weather and warm temperatures so we can begin fishing.

Lake Erie Walleye Charter

I went up to Lake Erie yesterday (2/19/2011) to check out the ice situation.  There are no shanties, air boats, or any signs of ice fisherman.  The best sign that I noticed was open water starting to appear.  I think everybody knows what that means.  Lake Erie walleye jig fishing is just around the corner.  Most of the open water was off Miller Ferry area of the South Passage.  I also visited Wild Wings and the ice is still locked in there pretty good.  I talked to an ice guide and he was packing up his stuff and heading home to put it away for the year and get his charter boat ready for spring fishing.  The last stop was to check on the boat.  Sweet Escape was the same as when it was put away in the fall.  Took some things off the trailer that need to be fixed and I will begin working on them this week.  Its great to begin thinking about walleye fishing and stop sitting in the recliner.  Well enough for this post, I got a new fishing rod to order and stinger hooks to finish tying.  Til next time, think warmer temperatures and happy fishing.
